Coach Cox was born and raised in Oklahoma, where he competed in football, wrestling and baseball during his high school tenure. He graduated in 1994, and decided to join the Air Force.

In 1996, Coach Cox met his wife of 28 years, Melody and they continued their adventure in the Air Force, where he coached or volunteer coached at various levels in a variety of sports. Coach Cox and his wife have 8 children, and soon 2 grandchildren.

After he retired in 2017, he pursued his dream in education and coaching where he worked for 5 years at North Middle School coaching football, track and basketball. In 2022, he moved to Central High School to teach at the high school level. Coach Cox continues to seek opportunities to coach youth sports when he can and loves coaching and building relationships through sports.
