Brandon Gayton: Freshman Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line
Brandon Gayton's journey in athletics ignited in 2001 at North Middle School in Rapid City. A versatile athlete, he excelled in wrestling, shotput, discus, and football. By 2003, he became a two-way starter on the football field, a role he maintained throughout his high school years at Rapid City Central High School.
Post-graduation, Brandon's passion for football persisted. In 2012, he joined his first semi-pro team, marking the beginning of a dynamic career spanning multiple teams. Noteworthy among these was his tenure with the Western Dakota War Eagles, where his defensive prowess shone with 33 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble.
Even during the off-season, Brandon's dedication to the game remained steadfast. He signed with the Champions Indoor Football organization, donning the jersey of the Gillette Mustangs. Although sidelined by injury during the Mustangs' inaugural season, Brandon's determination never wavered.
Recently, Brandon contributed his skills to the Rapid City Marshals (2023), playing two impactful games for the team. Recording several tackles for losses and securing one sack, he demonstrated his defensive prowess and leadership on the field.
Beyond the gridiron, he finds joy with his family, whether at the gym, the lake, or simply relaxing at home watching movies. As a father of two sons and one daughter, Brandon embodies resilience both on and off the field, inspiring those he comes in contact with to strive for excellence in every game and in every aspect of life.
